May 18, 2026 - Alcare Inc. & Altomos Investment Inc. - Altomos Investment Inc. (Headquarters: Sumida-ku, Tokyo; President: Takamitsu Kaiga), part of the Altomos Group which aims to 'illuminate life, living, and the future with the power of medical care and health,' has invested in Instalimb Inc. (Headquarters: Sumida-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yasushi Tokushima) by underwriting a J-KISS type stock acquisition right fundraising. Instalimb develops digital manufacturing solutions for prosthetics and orthotics using AI, 3D-CAD, and 3D printing technologies. Additionally, Alcare Inc. (Headquarters: Sumida-ku, Tokyo; President: Katsumi Ito), also part of the Altomos Group, has signed a basic agreement with Instalimb to explore the potential of digital technology in the prosthetics and orthotics field. ■ Background: Global and Japanese Challenges in Prosthetics and Orthotics According to the WHO and UNICEF, over 2.5 billion people need assistive devices, including prosthetics, but nearly 1 billion lack access. In low- and middle-income countries, only about 3% have access. Many who need prosthetics due to illness, war, or conflict still lack adequate support. The challenges include limited production capacity and high costs due to manual manufacturing, as well as insufficient medical and support systems, which prevent appropriate products and services from reaching those in need. Maintaining fit and ensuring continuous use is also difficult. Japan faces similar challenges in maintaining an adequate supply system amidst advancing medical care. ■ Purpose of Altomos Investment's Investment in Instalimb The Altomos Group aims to overcome divisions in care delivery. Altomos Investment focuses on creating solutions that improve medical efficiency for both clinical and daily life settings. Instalimb is one of the few companies that has digitized the manufacturing process for prosthetics and orthotics, handling everything from design to delivery. Their technology improves productivity and reduces costs to less than one-tenth of traditional methods. With a track record in the Philippines and India, Instalimb is expected to establish a new global manufacturing and delivery model. We decided to invest, expecting to create new value by combining their technology with the Altomos Group's knowledge and network. ■ Purpose of the Basic Agreement between Alcare and Instalimb Following the investment, Alcare and Instalimb have signed a basic agreement to accelerate problem-solving in the prosthetics and orthotics field by combining their strengths. The field requires not only AI and 3D printing but also solutions for socket fit, flexible fixation, and reducing burden on the skin. Integrating these with different regulatory and distribution systems is crucial. By combining Instalimb's technology with Alcare's expertise in dermatology, ergonomics, and product development, we believe we can create value beyond traditional frameworks. We will jointly explore three areas: 1. Joint consideration of adjustable prosthetic socket solutions for difficult cases. 2. Joint development of orthotics and welfare equipment using digital technology for an aging population. 3. Joint consideration of business development in the Japanese market. Both companies will continue to collaborate to build a new delivery model for the prosthetics and orthotics sector. ■ About Instalimb Inc.
