Wearable Neck Cooler "Hiyashi Toku" Cooled in a Refrigerator, Born from Design Collaboration Matching, Launches April 28th!
The "Hiyashi Toku" series, a new concept in cooling apparel designed to be pre-cooled in a refrigerator, will be released on April 28th. Developed through a collaboration between Footmark and Okunote, it proposes a new habit of cooling before wearing to achieve sustained coolness using Téxion PCM material.

Okunote (Headquarters: Ota-ku, Tokyo, Representative: Satoru Shimizu) collaborated with Footmark Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Sumida-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director and President: Norifumi Isobe, hereinafter "Footmark") through a design collaboration matching program by the Tokyo Metropolitan Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center. Together, they planned and designed the "Hiyashi Toku" series (hereinafter "this series"), cooling apparel that proposes a new habit of "cooling before wearing." This series will be available for purchase starting April 28, 2026, on Footmark's official EC site and at Super Sports Xebio stores nationwide.

Experience "Cooling Before Wearing - The New Standard"

This series is a new concept in apparel that, by being pre-cooled in a refrigerator or cooler bag before wearing, provides a dry, cool feeling from the moment it is worn, without relying on sweat or wind. While traditional cooling wear relies on "instant contact coolness" or "cooling by evaporative heat," this series achieves sustained coolness by being cooled before wearing.
The material adopted is a new fabric called "Téxion," which incorporates phase change material (PCM) – also used in neck coolers – into its fibers. By absorbing and releasing heat around 28℃, it stabilizes the temperature, reducing the surface temperature by up to -4℃ compared to unprocessed materials*.
Furthermore, PCM repeatedly exhibits its function through recooling and maintains approximately 80% of its performance even after 20 washes*. It boasts durability for daily use.

A Co-creation Project Born from Design Collaboration Matching
This project began when Footmark, possessing material technology, and Okunote, specializing in experience design and brand development, met through a design collaboration matching event.
Okunote was responsible for concept development (the new habit of cooling before wearing), naming development ("Hiyashi Toku"), brand design, creative direction, and package and sales promotion design, playing the role of translating material technology into a consumer experience.

In this project, Okunote took on the role of transforming technology into a consumer experience, going beyond mere design. The starting point was the question, "How can we differentiate it from general cooling materials?" From this question, the concept of "cooling before wearing" was considered.
For naming development, focusing on the unique polysemy of the Japanese language, the name "Hiyashi Toku" was designed by combining the act of "cooling in advance" (冷やしておく) with the values of "gain" or "advantage" (得/特). The intention was to convey the action itself as value.

In brand design, the technical material brand "Téxion" and the product brand "Hiyashi Toku" were organized, creating a two-layered structure: the former representing reliability and innovativeness as temperature control technology, and the latter representing a new experience that resonates with consumers.
Furthermore, in package and sales promotion design, emphasis was placed on designs that naturally induce the act of "putting it in the refrigerator." The cylindrical package can be stored directly in the refrigerator, making the product itself demonstrate its usage.
This initiative is an attempt to redesign value not just from the perspective of "function" when conveying material technology, but from "how it is used," embodying Okunote's strength in experience-driven design approach.
