EXEO Group, Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Keigo Kajimura), with the aim of achieving energy-saving operations in the cold chain field including cold storage warehouses, has been conducting demonstrations on improving the operation of cold storage warehouses jointly with Fukuyama Reizo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagoya-shi, Aichi; President: Mamoru Fukuyama) since December 2025.

As a result, since a certain level of achievement regarding energy-saving operations was confirmed, we would like to announce that we have decided to proceed with deploying the knowledge from this initiative in collaboration with industry associations and others.

■ Overview
[Background] Realization of a decarbonized society and structural challenges faced by the cold storage industry
Our company positions the resolution of social issues through GX (Green Transformation) as one of our critical themes, and we are advancing initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency and achieving carbon neutrality.
Among them, we focused on the cold chain sector, where energy consumption is increasing along with the expansion of logistics volume, but which also seems to have the potential for more effective energy-saving operations. We formulated a hypothesis with Fukuyama Reizo Co., Ltd. that there might be a method to increase energy efficiency while maintaining quality through energy management (data visualization and operational improvement) rather than relying solely on equipment updates, and we embarked on this demonstration.

[Demonstration Details] A challenge to "Data x Operational Improvement" without relying on equipment updates
In this demonstration, at the cold storage warehouse in the expansion building (completed in November 2023, Class F) within Fukuyama Reizo Co., Ltd.'s Nakagawa Center (Cold storage capacity Class F: 11,981 cubic meters, Class C3: 3,895 cubic meters), we collected and visualized data such as internal temperature, door opening/closing status, and refrigerator power consumption across multiple areas. Simultaneously, utilizing our company's data analysis and operation optimization technology, we verified the impact of different operational conditions on internal temperature and refrigerator power consumption.

Based on the premise that energy saving in cold storage warehouses has historically been an area that had to rely on "experience" and "intuition," our company respects the experiential knowledge cultivated on-site while backing it up with data, working to convert tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge in this demonstration. Fukuyama Reizo Co., Ltd. provided insights such as operational know-how regarding energy savings and decision-making points on-site. Based on the objective data acquired, we verified the energy-saving effects of refrigerator operations in multiple patterns. Specifically, we conducted comparative verifications on reviewing set temperatures, adjusting the frequency of defrosting, and pre-cooling operations (operations to cool down the warehouse in advance with a margin before the temperature rises due to the impact of warehousing, door opening/closing, outside air, etc.).

As a result, an energy-saving effect of up to approximately 8% (*) was obtained, and it was confirmed that there is a possibility of reducing power consumption by devising refrigerator operations while still meeting the requirements for the internal temperature.
* This is a result in a specific demonstration environment, and the effect may vary depending on warehouse specifications, temperature zones, refrigerator capacity, warehousing/delivery characteristics, etc.

[Future Development] Developing initiatives together with sympathetic stakeholders
Moving forward, based on the knowledge gained from this demonstration, we will continuously accumulate data under different seasons and warehouse conditions, aiming to provide cold chain solutions in the future.
In addition, we plan to actively share the knowledge gained from this demonstration jointly with Fukuyama Reizo Co., Ltd. to industry associations such as the Japan Association of Refrigerated Warehouses and industry papers, thereby contributing to the realization of energy-saving operations in cold storage warehouses. Through dialogues with stakeholders including cold storage warehouse operators and refrigeration equipment operators who share a similar awareness of issues, we will work on resolving challenges in the cold chain sector.

Under our "2030 Vision," our corporate group considers resolving social issues as a universal mission. We connect and fuse diverse engineering through innovation, continuously challenge sustainable growth through value creation, and aim to remain a corporate group that is needed for the realization of carbon neutrality.
