Grand Mercure Yatsugatake Resort & Spa (Location: Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture; General Manager: Akira Uemura), situated in a lush natural setting embraced by the majestic foothills of Yatsugatake at an altitude of approximately 1,000m, launched the "Yatsugatake New Sensation Sports Project" in June 2026.

This hotel champions the concept of an "All-Weather Amusement Hotel" where anyone can be engrossed in activities regardless of the weather, and develops content and services with the aim of "providing a stay where the entire family can enjoy themselves wholeheartedly, whatever the weather." As an initiative embodying this theme, this project also offers new activities with the desire to create a space where everyone, regardless of generation or sports experience, can be the star and enjoy themselves as a whole family.

As the first installment, the hotel is introducing "Billi-kicker," a new sensation sport that combines billiards and soccer, engaging both mind and body, for the first time in the hotel industry (*1). Additionally, a "Physical Fitness Measurement Room" with a Showa retro theme, enjoyable for all generations, has been newly established. Furthermore, the second installment, featuring the currently popular sport "Pickleball," is planned for this summer.

Background of the "Yatsugatake Sports Project" Launch: Providing "Fun" Experiences to Share with Family

What this project values is providing a place and experience where the entire family can enjoy themselves in the same space and with the same enthusiasm, regardless of age or sports experience, from children to adults. This project was launched with the desire to create a place that fosters intergenerational communication and deepens family bonds by having families enjoy sports together and spend time in the same way.

Grand Mercure Yatsugatake Resort & Spa is equipped with a wide range of indoor activity facilities that can be enjoyed regardless of the weather, and we hope guests will have an even more fulfilling stay by enjoying sports.

Experiences Introduced with the Project Launch

1. Billi-kicker, a Sport Fusing Billiards and Soccer

You can experience "Billi-kicker," a sport originating in France, at the hotel (reservation required). Using a dedicated court and balls, similar to a larger version of a billiards table and balls, it is a sport where the objective is to score goals. Rather than powerful kicks, calculating the trajectory to the goal, such as rebounds, angles, and precise force control, is key, and the strategic depth becomes more apparent with repeated play. Sometimes a gentle kick is the deciding factor, or a bold shot can change the course of the game, making it an activity that captivates people of all ages and physiques.

Another characteristic of this sport is that it naturally leads to moments of strategy discussion, allowing for different communication than usual.

2. Showa Retro "Physical Fitness Measurement Room" Connecting Three Generations

With the desire for three generations of a family to enjoy together, the "Physical Fitness Measurement Room," recreating a Showa-era classroom, has been created with the cooperation of Hokuto City. Featuring a blackboard, wooden desks and chairs, a clacking abacus, and a giant wooden ruler, the space evokes nostalgia for adults and a sense of novelty for children. In this classroom-like atmosphere, you can try grip strength tests, sit-and-reach, torso twists, lateral jumps, and vertical jumps. It's an experience where both adults and children can have serious fun and discover new aspects of themselves.
