Mercure Wakayama Kushimoto Resort & Spa (Kushimoto-cho, East Muro District, Wakayama Prefecture / General Manager: Kazunori Tanaka) is collaborating with Kushimoto Town (Mayor: Katsumasa Tashima) and the designated manager of the Space Experience Hall 'Sora-Miru', Hitoko Communications Inc. (Toshima-ku, Tokyo / Representative Director and President: Toyoai Yasui), to hold the 'Kushimoto Kairos Rocket Exercise' created by Kushimoto Town every morning from July 18, 2026 (Sat) to August 31, 2026 (Mon) during the summer vacation period.

Kushimoto Town, which has Japan's first private rocket launch site 'Spaceport Kii', has created this original exercise to make the Kairos rocket feel more familiar. The 'Kushimoto Kairos Rocket Exercise' will be offered as a regional collaboration project that not only hotel guests but also local residents can participate in. During the period, staff from the Space Experience Hall 'Sora-Miru' will provide explanations about space and rockets and exercise lectures every morning. While enjoying a healthy morning, we aim to deepen your understanding of the unique space and rocket culture of Kushimoto Town and create a new morning community where tourism and regional exchange intersect.

Background of the 'Kushimoto Kairos Rocket Exercise' Project

Kushimoto Town, located at the southern tip of Honshu, has been working on regional activation using space and rockets since the opening of Japan's first private rocket launch site, 'Spaceport Kii'. The private small rocket 'Kairos' launched in the town has become a symbol of the region's future.

Amidst this, the 'Kushimoto Rocket Exercise' was born as a new communication tool that allows people of all ages, from children to adults, to feel close to rockets and develop a fondness for them.

The 'Kushimoto Kairos Rocket Exercise' is supervised by Hirohito Sato, known as the former 'Taiso no Onisan' of NHK E Tele, and choreographed by Rie Tanaka, a former Japanese representative gymnast from Wakayama Prefecture. It incorporates movements that imagine rocket launches and flights, making it enjoyable for both children and adults to move their bodies.

Mercure Wakayama Kushimoto Resort & Spa will hold the 'Kushimoto Kairos Rocket Exercise' every morning during the summer vacation period to create a new venue for regional exchange where both local residents and hotel guests can participate together, and to connect it to the appeal of 'Rocket Town Kushimoto'.
