UCSI University, a Renowned Malaysian Institution, Forms Partnership Agreements with 18 Schools Nationwide in Japan

UCSI University (Headquarters: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), and English Innovations Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo), which operates its Japan campus, held the "UCSI University in Japan Grand Opening Ceremony and Partnership Agreement Signing Ceremony" on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the UCSI University in Japan campus.
The ceremony marked the official opening of UCSI University in Japan as a new educational hub in Japan for UCSI University, a prominent private university in Malaysia. It also celebrated the signing of partnership agreements (MoU) with junior and senior high schools across Japan.
Attendees included representatives from UCSI Group, UCSI University, Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), the Embassy of Malaysia in Japan, the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education, and 18 partner schools. The ceremony featured speeches by guests of honor, a ribbon-cutting, the partnership agreement signing ceremony, and an information session for school officials about UCSI University, symbolizing the launch of a new university progression model that connects to overseas university education while in Japan.
UCSI University in Japan aims to prepare Japanese high school students for overseas university admission by offering UCSI University's foundation courses in Japan. Various hurdles exist in pursuing overseas university education, such as English proficiency, costs, living environment, and preparation. UCSI University in Japan provides a preparatory curriculum that leads to overseas university education while students are in Japan, allowing them to gradually take on the challenge of studying abroad. Upon completion, students can progress to UCSI University's main campus in Malaysia and other partner universities.
In April 2026, 33 students enrolled, and including those scheduled for September admission, approximately 60 students are expected in the first year. Furthermore, the number of applicants reached about 90 by the end of March, indicating a growing interest in overseas university education.
The ceremony also saw the signing of partnership agreements (MoU) with 18 junior and senior high schools nationwide. Through these partnerships, students from each school will receive information on admission to UCSI University, seminars on overseas university admission, career counseling, recommendation systems, and opportunities to visit Malaysia, aiming to expand options for overseas university education in Japanese schools.
Partner schools include: Mita International School of Science, Ikubunkan Global High School, Ibaraki Prefectural Katsuta Secondary Education School, Chitoku High School, Urawa Jitsugyo Gakuen Junior High School (integrated junior and senior high school division), Meisho Gakuen Iwakura High School, Tokai University Sugao High School, Meguro Nihon University High School, Josai Gakuin High School, Ouyu Gakuen Girls' Junior and Senior High School, Hokuetsu High School, Tama University Hijirigaoka Junior and Senior High School, Nagano Nihon University High School, Fukuoka Futaba High School, Hoshi no Mori High School, Tokyo City University Shiojiri High School, Tokyo Seitoku University Junior and Senior High School, Kanto Gakuin Mutsuura Junior and Senior High School (in no particular order).
Active interaction took place between UCSI University and the participants.
Malaysian government agencies and the Embassy of Malaysia in Japan also attended as guests.
Attendees at the ceremony included Dato’ Peter T. S. Ng, Founder and Executive Chairman of UCSI Group; Professor Emerita Datuk Ts. Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah Binti Tapsir, Vice-Chancellor and President of UCSI University; Mr Sheikh Fahmy Bin Sheikh Mohamed, Vice President, Business Development of UCSI Group; Mr Novie Tajuddin, Chief Executive Officer of Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS); and Mr Zainal Azlan Mohd Nadzir, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Malaysia in Japan.
Mr. Novie, CEO of Education Malaysia Global Services, also gave a congratulatory speech.
Comments from the press conference: UCSI commented on the establishment of its base in Japan, stating, "While we have accepted many Japanese students primarily through short-term programs until now, this marks an important first step towards longer-term learning."
