Anaut Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo; Representative Director: Naoshi Kobayashi (Surgeon) https://anaut-surg.com/), whose mission is "to deliver greater safety and peace of mind than ever before to all patients requiring surgical procedures," has completed a third-party allocation of new shares as part of its Series B funding round. The funds raised in this round will be utilized to further accelerate the rapidly progressing overseas expansion, implement research and development including the launch of new businesses, and promote product dissemination.
Challenges surrounding surgical medicine
Despite advancements in therapeutic devices such as surgical assistance robots, medical facilities in recent years have faced issues such as a shortage of surgeons, disparities in medical care between regions, and the increasing sophistication and complexity of surgical procedures. Establishing a sustainable medical supply system has become an urgent challenge. Particularly in areas dependent on the expertise of skilled surgeons, there is a demand for standardization of medical quality and advanced education, indicating that technological support for doctors' perceptual domains is indispensable. Furthermore, despite the tremendous efforts of medical professionals, surgical complications in surgical medicine remain a significant challenge.
Anaut Co., Ltd.'s initiative: Developing and disseminating Japan-originated surgical assistance AI sought globally
To address the aforementioned challenges, Anaut Co., Ltd., spearheaded by surgeon Kobayashi, has been committed to providing perceptual support to operators through AI since 2018, even before its establishment. As a result of these efforts, in 2024, ahead of the world, they obtained manufacturing and marketing approval (Approval No.: 30600BZX00061000) from the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare on April 12, 2024, for their surgical image recognition support program that provides real-time visual assistance to doctors (Product name: Surgical Visual Assistance Program Eureka α (hereinafter, "EUREKA α")). In January this year, they also received partial amendment approval from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare for pancreas and nerves.
Simultaneously with R&D, social implementation has been actively pursued, and the EUREKA series is steadily being adopted domestically. In addition, it has received significant international acclaim as a necessary technology in operating rooms. Global expansion is rapidly progressing, including expanding R&D with overseas medical institutions and preparing for regulatory approvals. Anaut America Inc. was established in the US in 2025, and a local subsidiary is planned for the European region this summer. Members from around the world who strongly resonate with Anaut's philosophy of "delivering greater safety and peace of mind to all patients requiring surgical procedures" are participating in this challenge to spread Japan's globally excellent surgical medical technology to the world through AI technology.

Four new companies—Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Organization for Cross-regional Coordination of Transmission Operators, and Vision Incubate Co., Ltd.—have invested. Furthermore, existing investors have provided continuous and robust support, aligning with the challenging endeavor of global expansion for medical devices. Beyond Next Ventures Inc. (led the seed round), ANRI Co., Ltd. (led multiple rounds including Series A and bridge rounds), and KSP Co., Ltd. have provided additional investments. In the extension round planned for this summer, fundraising will primarily focus on overseas VCs (including VCs from overseas medical institutions) in addition to domestic ones.

Future Outlook
We will continue to fully commit to solving the challenges in operating rooms in Japan and worldwide. In addition to further product penetration in operating rooms domestically, we are steadily advancing product development by forming overseas teams (including obtaining overseas approvals such as FDA and CE Mark). Furthermore, we are proactively engaged in exploring new technologies through R&D, such as the "Eureka Inside" business, which focuses on optimizing, integrating, and linking advanced AI technology with next-generation treatment devices. We look forward to welcoming individuals who share our mission in various fields such as surgical medicine, engineering, business development, regulatory affairs, and corporate functions (accounting, HR, general affairs).
