Adobe K.K. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Maninder Sawhney; hereinafter "Adobe") announced today that the University of Tsukuba (Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture; President: Kyosuke Nagata; hereinafter "University of Tsukuba"), a national university corporation, has become the first national comprehensive university in the Kanto region to join the "Adobe Creative Campus," a global consortium promoted by Adobe.

The "Adobe Creative Campus" is a worldwide consortium of higher education institutions that are committed to providing an environment where all students can utilize Adobe's latest digital creative tools, "Adobe Creative Cloud" and "Adobe Express," as well as Adobe's generative AI, "Adobe Firefly." By actively utilizing these tools both within and outside the curriculum across all faculties and fields of study, the consortium aims to empower students to acquire the creative and productive digital skills required in the AI era. As of May 2026, over 100 higher education institutions worldwide are members.

Notably, the University of Tsukuba is the first national comprehensive university in Japan to implement "Acrobat Express for Educational Institutions" on a large scale for all students, which Adobe newly launched in February 2026. "Acrobat Express" consists of "Adobe Firefly," a generative AI specialized in creativity, "Acrobat AI Assistant," a generative AI specialized in documents, and "Adobe Express." It is a special license exclusively for educational institutions that comprehensively supports the entire learning process, from absorbing and understanding learning content to analyzing, applying, and producing creative output.

In Japan, Ritsumeikan University became the first Adobe Creative Campus member in April 2024, followed by Hokkaido University and Tokyo Denki University. With the University of Tsukuba's recent addition, there are now four Adobe Creative Campus institutions in Japan. Through the Adobe Creative Campus, member schools in Japan can exchange information on educational curricula and practices with advanced educational institutions both domestically and internationally, helping to promote innovation and enrichment of the educational environment.

At the University of Tsukuba, based on a comprehensive Adobe license agreement, classes utilizing Adobe's creative tools have traditionally been offered, such as the general subject "Digital Creative Course" open to all students by the College of Information Science, and the "Creative Arts and Sciences Program ~Creative Experience Workshop with OBOG Guidance~" held since the 2010 academic year. In December 2024, medical students used Adobe Express in a workshop to raise awareness of chronic kidney disease and encourage early consultation. In July 2025, students at Komaba High School attached to the university used Adobe Firefly, a generative AI integrated into Adobe Express, to express their self-composed Chinese poems as a single image in a class. These diverse practices promote learning that integrates technology and creativity.

Yoshihiko Takenaka, Vice President and Director (Education) at the University of Tsukuba, stated:

"At our university, we have been promoting initiatives to foster expressive power and creativity by utilizing Adobe tools in digital creative education. We realize that tools like Adobe Express can greatly expand learning possibilities depending on the ideas. By joining the Adobe Creative Campus, an environment where students can regularly use creative tools will be established, further drawing out each individual's imagination and expressive power, and accelerating our challenge to create new curricula looking ahead to the next 50 years. Furthermore, we will promote the creation of a more enriched learning environment by referring to examples from other member universities."

Haruko Koike, Executive Officer and General Manager of Adobe's Education Business Division, commented:

"We are very pleased that the University of Tsukuba is the first national university in the Kanto region to join the Adobe Creative Campus. The university is committed to developing leaders who can leverage AI and digital tools to bring about social change. We are confident that the educational environment, which fully utilizes Adobe's generative AI, AI Assistant, and digital tools, realized through the large-scale introduction of 'Acrobat Express' for all students—a first for a national university in Japan—will be a catalyst for this acceleration."
