Bonjour Iciii is a Japanese illustrator and picture book author, born in Hokkaido in 1968. After graduating from Osaka University of Arts in 1991, he began his career as an illustrator.
Known for his unique worldview and character-driven style, his self-penned song "Fushigi na Chikara" was adopted by NHK's "Minna no Uta," for which he also created the animation/characters and story. He is supported by a wide range of people, from children to adults. His colorful, playful, and happy art, in particular, draws attention mainly from Gen Z through his solo exhibitions and picture books.
Last year's solo exhibition at Shibuya Hikarie 8F was his first major exhibition in two years, showcasing new works, past masterpieces, and his evolving creativity. It was a great success, attracting over 1,000 visitors during its run.
Furthermore, "Bonjour Shoten" (Bonjour Bookstore) opened within Shibuya Marumaru Bookstore on Shibuya Hikarie 8F in June 2024, operating a monthly POP UP SHOP at Hikarie 8F. Bonjour Iciii himself serves as the shopkeeper, interacting with customers and explaining various aspects of his picture books.
He has also been active for over 25 years as the "Festival Director" of "Tokyo Curry Bancho," a performance group focused on making spice curry. Additionally, as the first leader of "Shonan Spice Zoku," he actively organizes events and spice workshops in the Shonan area, among other vigorous activities.
