ISA Co., Ltd. will host a media preview event on Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the newly opened hot spring facility 'Toji no Niwa Kumano Kawayu' (Toji Garden Kumano Kawayu) in Kawayu, Hongu-cho, Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture. The event is targeted at travel magazines, tourism and lifestyle media, news organizations, and regional media.

'Toji no Niwa Kumano Kawayu' is a TOJI (hot spring cure) retreat facility located in Kawayu Onsen, close to the pilgrimage route of the World Heritage Kumano Kodo. It re-edits the traditional hot spring cure culture that has continued since ancient times for modern travelers.

What this facility proposes is not just bathing. Centered around 'soaking, drinking, and resting,' it is a new hot spring experience that not only heals daily fatigue but also allows guests to quietly regain their own senses and rhythm.

During this preview, we will guide you through the facility space and experience routes. Media representatives who wish to participate will be offered a complimentary TOJI experience.

Please experience the nature of Kumano, the culture of Kawayu Onsen, and the value of modern TOJI locally.

Renovating the Registered Tangible Cultural Property 'Kameya Ryokan Honkan'

'Toji no Niwa Kumano Kawayu' is a hot spring facility opened by renovating the 'Kameya Ryokan Honkan,' a registered tangible cultural property that has watched over the history of Kawayu Onsen.

The Kameya Ryokan Honkan is a two-story wooden inn with a tiled roof built in 1928, the early Showa period, and was registered as a tangible cultural property (building) on April 18, 2008. Located almost in the center of Kawayu Onsen along the Oto River, it conveys the elegance of a long-established inn while harmonizing with the surrounding scenery.

In this renovation, while cherishing the building's historical significance and the memories of Kawayu Onsen, we added functions for modern travelers to condition their minds and bodies, such as an inner bath, craft mist bath, outer bath, and TOJI Cafe.

By reviving the inn architecture that once welcomed travelers as a base for modern hot spring cures, we propose a new stay value in the Kumano Kodo area.

A Unique TOJI Experience Incorporating Kumano's Climate and Handicrafts

'Toji no Niwa Kumano Kawayu' incorporates experiential elements where you can feel the nature and culture of Kumano everywhere.

We emphasize space creation that values local materials and handiwork, including 'Craft Onsen' where artisans manually extract minerals from hot springs and ores, stone tools from a blacksmith shop founded over 500 years ago, original bathing wear tailored with fabric woven with Japanese paper, and amenities selected with an awareness of the connection to nature and hot springs.

Within the facility, we provide a TOJI experience that gradually relaxes the body through an inner bath, craft mist bath, and outer bath. First, warm your body thoroughly in the inner bath, followed by a craft mist bath where you lie on the natural ore 'Bakuhanseki' (maifan stone). Surrounded by a soft mist containing minerals, it promotes quiet sweating. Finally, the outer bath leads you to a time of releasing your mind and body while feeling the sky and wind.

In addition, at the TOJI Cafe on the second floor, you can leisurely savor the afterglow of your bath while enjoying local alcohol, soft drinks, and meals.
