This exhibition presents a new series inspired by the artist's fresh perspective gained during her studies in Germany and her renewed engagement with plants in Japan.

Yamashita has long depicted her inner 'kingdom'—a world filled with plants, where girls and animals coexist in harmony. This world has served as a 'veil' protecting her from the outside, while simultaneously possessing the resilience to embrace and absorb diverse elements.

In the autumn 2025 solo exhibition 'reflect' (at VOID+), works created during her time abroad highlighted how foreign plants and landscapes resonated with her inner world.

After returning to Japan, in her newly established studio, she turned her attention to plants thriving vividly through the Japanese seasons. Yet, this is not mere realism. Filtered through her unique vision, these plants multiply across the canvas, merging with girls and animals, and once again becoming part of her 'kingdom.'

The exhibition title 'a beautiful day' expresses Yamashita’s desire to capture in her own words the beautiful moments that truly exist in everyday life. Her vivid, richly colored world—created with pens, colored pencils, and oil paints—shines with renewed brilliance, gently inviting viewers into a state of undisturbed happiness. We warmly invite you to experience the gateway to Atsuko Yamashita’s new artistic world.
