Sumiashicare Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Ina Town, Kita-Adachi District, Saitama Prefecture; CEO: Daisuke Matsuda), a provider of disability welfare services, will renovate a historic 194-tsubo residence in Ina Town, approximately 40 years old, to establish the 'Yashiki Project'—a community-integrated hub where 'living, working, and connecting' naturally converge. A crowdfunding campaign to support this initiative will launch on July 15, 2026, at 9:00 AM via CAMPFIRE (target: ¥1 million, All-In model).

The core of this project is 'inclusive disaster preparedness.' During collaborative meetings with local residents on disaster prevention, we heard feedback such as, 'We wish we had known about such a facility earlier.' Without knowing each other’s faces and names, it is impossible to support one another during emergencies. This hub aims to create a shared 'space' where people with and without disabilities interact daily, fostering relationships that enable mutual aid during disasters.

Background: It’s not prejudice—it’s the lack of opportunity to connect

Simply having people with disabilities 'live' in group homes does not create genuine community integration. In daily routines—leaving home for work and returning—many rarely encounter neighbors, a major challenge in welfare services. During disaster prevention meetings with local residents, we heard, 'We wish we had known about such a facility earlier.' Without knowing each other’s faces and names, mutual support during emergencies is impossible.

It’s not that prejudice is the issue—it’s simply that opportunities to connect have been lacking. If so, we should create that space ourselves. Driven by this strong conviction, the 'Yashiki Project' was launched, using a historic 194-tsubo residence as its stage.

Three Functions of the 'Yashiki Project'

The hub will gently integrate three functions within the historic 9LDK wooden structure:

Before renovation ① Before renovation ②

🔶 Living

🔶 Working

🔶 Connecting

Group Home: Second-floor residential space where individuals with disabilities can live safely and authentically. Connected to first-floor shared areas, bridging daily life with the community.

Employment Support: Operating the consignment service 'enne' under B-type employment support 'BANDS.' Creating a space where individuals contribute to society through meaningful roles, not just as recipients of support.

Community Open Space 'Sayaendou': A 'community engawa' (veranda) utilizing the first-floor veranda, garden, and Japanese-style room. Open to all for casual visits, hosting children’s cafés, tea ceremonies, and exchange events.

Message from CEO Daisuke Matsuda

CEO Daisuke Matsuda

I experienced bullying in middle school and lost a close friend in the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. From these experiences, I deeply realized the importance of a place where 'no one faces bullying, discrimination, or abuse, and everyone can be the protagonist.' The Yashiki Project is not about creating a special world.

'A world where diverse people live diverse lives, yet everyone strives earnestly in their own way'—I want to light such a warm, ordinary place within our community.

I would be honored if you could join us as a partner in creating this new welfare story.
